Are you a student at the University of Southern California? Take the SWIS Survey! [Currently closed for 2023]

Your participation helps to enhance campus life and improve the experience for the entire student community. Data from the survey helps departments advocate for policies and resources, and plan for services and programs that encourage a healthy, safe and nondiscriminatory environment at the University of Southern California.

Our goal is to obtain at least 25% response rats from each academic unit. The chart below shows current participation rate, by class standing and academic school. Higher response and participation rates from each academic unit/school will provide greater representative data that will be used to support and advocate for additional school-specific services and resources.

Am I required to participate?

You do NOT have to participate in this survey. If you do participate, you may skip any question you are not comfortable answering and may exit the survey at any time.

Who takes the survey?

All enrolled students and postdocs will receive an invitation link to the USC Student Well-being Index Survey (SWIS) from the email sender address “wellbeingcollective@usc.edu.” The survey is administered through USC Student Health’s Office of Health Promotion Strategy.

What does it cover?

This survey asks about different aspects of your experience that help university leadership understand how to continually improve student wellbeing. Subject areas that continue from each survey include the following categories of interest:

  • Sense of Belonging
  • Fairness and Equity
  • Positive Mental Health
  • At-risk Drinking
  • Sexual Violence
  • Upstanding Behaviors

Subject areas are added each year, to better understand factors that may be particularly important in the current climate.

Is there an incentive to participate?

Students who complete the survey and provide us with a USC email address will enter into a drawing to win a $25 Amazon e-Gift Card. 500 gift cards will be available for the draw. Winners will be notified through the USC email.

Who is administering the survey and will my answers be confidential?

USC Student Health – Office for Health Promotion Strategy, backbone for the USC Well-being Collective, is collecting the data. We will use our best efforts to keep your responses as confidential as permitted by law. The survey results will be analyzed and presented in aggregate form so no individual can be identified.
